Fourplex fire in Chatham
The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management has been called in to investigate a fire that broke out yesterday afternoon at a fourplex in Chatham.
Fire crews from stations 1 and 2 responded to a fire at a fourplex at around 1:30 p.m. on Wellington St. E.
When crews arrived on scene there were several residents waiting outside, however bystanders communicated that someone may still be inside. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and conducted a primary and secondary search of the building. No one was inside and there were no injuries. There were a number of pets safely rescued by firefighters and victim services on scene to assist displaced families.
Fire officials say damages have been estimated at $150,000.
