Chatham man charged with robbery

A 29-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after allegedly robbing a financial institution in Dresden.

Police say the incident occurred on February 19th. The man reportedly obscured his identity and issued a note to a teller. The note indicated that the man intended to commit robbery and demanded money. Approximately $2700 was handed to the suspect and he fled the area. Police were provided with surveillance from the incident and were able to identify a suspect.

The suspect was located by members of the Chatham-Kent Police on March 7th and taken into custody without incident. The man is being charged with Robbery, Theft Under $5000 x 3, Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000 x3, Fail to Attend Court and Fail to Comply with Recognizance.

The man was remanded into custody pending his next bail hearing.
