Wallaceburg man charged with assaulting police officer

A 26-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a police officer.

Police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Wallaceburg yesterday morning.  When the man was asked to leave, he refused.  As the officers placed the man under arrest for trespassing, he resisted and a struggle ensued resulting in an officer being struck in the nose.

The man was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters.

Police say Anthony Day was charged with failing to leave premise when directed, resisting peace officer and assaulting peace officer.  He was released with a future court date of February 27th.
