Sarnia man facing child pornography charges
A 41-year-old Sarnia man is facing child pornography charges stemming from an investigation that started last year in November.
An on-line investigation from November 4th, by a member of the Ontario Provincial Police Child Exploitation Unit, discovered that an IP address was involved in the exchange of suspected child pornography data. The investigation determined that the IP address originated from a Sarnia address.
As such the Sarnia Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Investigation Unit continued the investigation into the information received and requested a warrant to search the residence of the suspect in this matter. The warrant was executed on December 19th at approximately 8 a.m. A search of the residence was conducted to locate and seize evidence related to the crime and a male arrested and charged.
Police say the accused in this matter is a Christopher Arthur Brown. He is facing charges for possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, and accessing child pornography.
Police say from information gathered there does not appear to appear to be any local victims.
The Sarnia Police ICE Unit is a partner of the Ontario’s Provincial Strategy to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation on the internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
