CK police officer facing second sexual assault charge

Chatham-Kent Police Service Constable Andrew Jaconelli is facing a second sexual assault charge in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred in August of 2018.

The officer was previously charged in December with another count of sexual assault and one count of assault with a weapon in connection with an incident that occurred in November of 2017.

Jaconelli appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice at the Chatham Courthouse on Friday and was released on a recognizance of bail with specific conditions that he has to adhere to. His next court date is Tuesday January 8th.

The involved officer was suspended from duty on December 14th, 2018. The officer has also been charged with an additional count under the Police Services Act with “Discreditable Conduct.”

The Chatham Kent Police Services Professional Standards Branch is conducting further internal investigations.
