Car stolen from driveway in Chatham

Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a car that was stolen yesterday afternoon, just before 1 p.m. from a driveway on Grand Avenue East.

Police say the car is a light green 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis. It was last seen with Ontario license plates BXZA 278.  Inside the car were various tools along with a blue air compressor.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Darcy Lunn at darcyl@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600 extension #85385.  Anonymous callers may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and are eligible for a cash reward.

“We realize that it’s tempting to start your vehicle and let it warm up during the cold winter months.  But remember, that thieves see these vehicles as easy targets.  Don’t give criminals a warm ride by leaving your vehicle running, and unattended,” stated police officials in a media release.
