OPP investigating threat of violence to Middlesex high school
Members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police responded to an assistance call from a parent of a North Middlesex High School student Monday.
OPP say the complainant contacted police after receiving a text message suggesting that unknown persons had planned a violent act at the school.
Members of the Middlesex OPP were present at the school Tuesday to ensure the safety of students and further the investigation.
Police say the threat against the school is so far unsubstantiated.
“Middlesex OPP and school administrators continue to work collaboratively in regards to this investigation. While we are aware of a recent spike of similar investigations in the area, the OPP is committed to working with school communities to provide a safe learning environment for all students. If proved to be a hoax, the OPP is equally committed to hold whoever is responsible accountable,” says PC Max Gomez, Middlesex OPP.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.
