A rumour circulating online suggested either Darrin Canniff or Robert Salvatore Powers were advocating for the privatization of Riverview Gardens. Both candidates have quashed the rumour.

In a phone interview Powers told CKReview News that he supports public employees and has no interest in privatizing the nursing home. His platform is posted at www.mayorpowers.ca. Canniff also shot down the speculation, saying on social media that he has no intention on privatizing Riverview Gardens. Canniff wrote, “They perform a critical function within the community and are a valued part of the municipality.” Canniff’s platform can be seen at www.darrincanniff.com.

During an election it is best to get any information about a candidate’s policy directly from the candidate. All candidates are receptive to your inquiries. For a full list of contacts for candidates, see the municipal website.
