Man charged with resisting arrest in Chatham

A man wanted for break and enter and trespass by night was arrested yesterday afternoon in Chatham.

Police were on foot patrol in the area of Patteson Avenue and Gray Street when they observed a man, known to them, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for break and enter and trespass by night.

The officers approached the man and placed him under arrest.  The man immediately pulled away and began struggling in an attempt to avoid being arrested.  The man was eventually handcuffed and taken into custody.  One of the officers sustained minor injuries.

Police say the 28-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with resist arrest.  He is in custody for a bail hearing.
