Chatham teen charged with theft
A 17-year-old Chatham youth is facing theft charges after allegedly stealing a MacBook.
Police say the incident occurred on March 2nd, shortly after 6 p.m.
A woman was doing homework at Tim Hortons on Park Avenue in Chatham when a man stole her MacBook while she left the table unattended for a minute.
On Friday night, through the power of social media, police received information about the person responsible for the theft.
The male youth was identified and arrested. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the youth was found to be in possession of the stolen laptop.
He was charged with theft under $5000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released with conditions and a future court date of March 19th.
