Pigs saved after Blenheim barn fire
CKFES officials say 1400 swine were saved after a barn fire in Blenheim yesterday morning.
Crews from station 18 and 14 responded to 9170 Old Street Line at approximately 11 a.m. for a barn fire.
Employees noticed flames coming from the roof of the structure and safely used a fire extinguisher to put the fire out. Firefighters arrived on scene and quickly cut away portions of the roof and dowsed hot spots to prevent the fire from spreading.
Fire officials say the damage is estimated at $20,000, while $600,000 was saved.
The fire has been ruled as accidental.
One of the workers was treated on scene by EMS from smoke inhalation.
