Man charged with theft from Chatham store
A 34-year-old Ridgetown man is facing theft charges after allegedly stealing $92 worth of merchandise from the Real Canadian Superstore.
Police say the man and his wife attended the store on St. Clair Street in Chatham. The man was observed removing items from their packaging and concealing them inside his coat. Together, they exited the store making no attempt to pay for the merchandise.
The couple was stopped outside by security and escorted back into the store while police were called.
The 34-year-old Ridgetown man was charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released with conditions pending a future court date of February 14th. His wife was not charged.
