Man charged with stealing saw from Home Hardware

Police have arrested a 34-year-old Ridgetown man who allegedly stole a saw from Home Hardware Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the man entered the store on Keil Drive S. at 4 p.m. Video surveillance captured the man select a saw from the shelf, place it inside his overalls and then exit the store, making no attempt to pay for the item. Police were then called.

Diedrich Doerksen, was located at his house last night at 7 p.m. He was arrested and charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000.

The man was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and later released with a court date of January 31st.
