Chatham man charged with theft from utility trailer

A 27-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after allegedly stealing $7,500 worth of construction tools/equipment from a utility trailer parked on a piece of property in Kent Bridge.

Police say the utility trailer was broken into sometime between November 21st and November 22nd.

Damage to the trailer was estimated at $50.

Police say the man responsible for the damage and theft was located at his residence and arrested last night at 11 p.m.

He was charged with mischief under $5000 and theft over $5000. The man was then transported to CKPS Headquarters where he is held for a bail hearing.
