Police responded to five collisions yesterday

Five people were charged in five separate collisions in Chatham and Wallaceburg yesterday.

Shortly after 11 a.m. police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Grand Avenue near Lacroix Street in Chatham. No one was injured and total damage was estimated at $6500. A 27-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with careless driving.

Around 12:15 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a collision involving a cyclist and Jeep Cherokee on Northland Drive near McNaughton Avenue in Chatham.   Minor injuries were sustained.  Total damage was estimated at $1000.  The cyclist, a 75-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to signal a turn.

Around 1 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Duncan Street near Elizabeth Street in Wallaceburg. No one was injured and total damage was estimated at $5000.  A 36-year-old Sombra man was charged with start from stopped position – not in safety.

Just before 2:30 p.m. police responded to a three-vehicle collision on Keil Drive near McNaughton Avenue in Chatham. No one was injured and total damage was estimated at $16,000. A 66-year-old Chatham woman was charged with failing to yield the right of way.

Around 2:30 p.m. police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Hazel Street near Poplar Street in Chatham. Minor injuries were sustained. Total damage was estimated at $3200.  An 18-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to yield from a driveway
