Chatham man charged with obstructing police

policecar2Around 12:55 a.m., this morning, police responded to the area of King Street West near Phyllis Avenue in Chatham about a suspicious person.  Officers located the man on Phyllis Avenue south of Tecumseh Road. Upon being approached by police, the man dropped a small plastic bag on the grass boulevard and falsely identified himself to the officer. Police learned his real identity and seized the bag containing methamphetamine.

The man was released from custody with several conditions on November 2nd. One of those conditions stated that he was to obey a daily curfew of 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The 26-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with obstruct police, fail to comply and drug possession. He has been held in custody and is waiting for a bail hearing.
