Chatham man charged with theft

On December 13th, shortly after 11:00 p.m., a man entered a home on Foster Street in Chatham and stole 8 car batteries from a garage.  Police recovered the batteries and identified the man responsible.

Last night, the 49-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and failing to comply with his curfew condition.  He has been held in custody and is currently waiting for a bail hearing.
