Chatham man charged with obstruct police

According to police, a business on King Street East in Chatham reported an unwanted man in their store yesterday afternoon.  The man was loitering inside the store without making any purchases.  He left the area on a bicycle prior to police arrival. Officers located him on St. Clair Street near Poplar Street.

The man falsely identified himself to police but officers recognized him and confirmed that he had just lied about his identity.  Police learned that the man was also bound to reside at a specific address.

The 25-year-old Chatham man has been charged with obstruct police and failing to comply.  He has been held in custody and is currently waiting for a bail hearing.
