Attempted robbery in Blenheim
Police are investigating an attempted robbery that was reported at the Pioneer Gas bar last night, just after midnight.
The suspect, a man, fled the area prior to police arrival. He is described as about 5’7” tall, white complexion, slender build, wearing a black ski mask with mouth and eye holes, dark hoodie and dark blue or black pants.
According to police, the suspect approached the locked kiosk, and was told that he would have to take his mask off if he wanted to come into the store.
He brandished a “hunting style” knife with an approximate blade length of 6-8 inches demanding the money in the till. The man was chased off by the gas bar employee with a plastic snow shovel. He fled the area on a dark coloured bicycle. The employee was not injured.
