Maroons blowout St. Marys Lincolns 7-0

The Chatham Maroons won in impressive style last night, beating the St. Marys Lincolns 7-0 in a blowout. Goalie Parker Butler registered the shutout, stopping 42 shots.
For the first couple of minutes the pressure was all in the Maroons zone. Then the Maroons took the lead on a short-handed goal at 13:37 of the first period when Teddy Green put one past St. Marys goalie Ryan Langford. The Maroons followed that up with Ian Faubert’s seventh goal of the season on the power play to close the 1st period scoring.
The Maroons took control during the 2nd period. Goals by Brayden Hopkins, Josh Barraclough and Ross Krieger gave the Maroons a 5-0 lead after two periods. Barraclough’s goal was the 2nd short-handed for the Maroons. The closest that the Lincolns were to scoring happened with 3:34 left in the 2nd period when they rang one off the post.
The Maroons penalty killing was perfect, allowing no goals after being short-handed seven times. Paul Town replaced Langford in the St. Marys net with 12 minutes left. The Maroons player of the game was Ian Faubert, who had a goal and two assists.
The Maroons (3-3-1) next game is Thursday when they face the 2nd place St. Thomas Stars (6-2-1) in St. Thomas.
As a side note, it was Josh Barraclough’s first goal in the Jr. B division.
