A 17-year-old Merlin youth is in trouble again with the law. Last night at 10:20 p.m. the police caught the youth driving on the grass at Merlin Public School and doing donuts, destroying the grass. Police entered the school-yard and the youth drove off, accelerating to get away. Police activated their roof lights and then saw the youth go through a four-way stop without coming to a complete stop.
He has been arrested this year once already. In January he was released with several conditions, one of those conditions being that he has a daily curfew from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. unless with a parent.
He was arrested again and released into the custody of his parents with a future court date. He has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with no licence, driving a motor vehicle with no insurance, failing to comply and mischief under $5000.
Police say the damage to the grass in the school yard is about $1000.
