Fire breaks out at Duke street home in Wallaceburg

Sometime around 8 p.m. last night firefighters were called to a fire on Duke St. in Walaceburg at an unoccupied home. The damaged was estimated at close to $50,000 and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined. There were no injuries reported and no other structures were damaged in the fire.

Chatham-Kent Fire would like to remind residents to have a working smoke alarm installed on every floor of your home especially near sleeping areas. Also, it is advised to have working carbon monoxide detectors and fuel burning appliances inspected regularly. Lastly, practice your exit plan with your family and residence having at least two exits for each room and a designated meeting space.
