An elderly couple in Dover Township were defrauded swindled when a home improvement scam targeted them.
Four young men from a company called ‘UK Tarmacadam’ went to their home and offered to pave their driveway. The couple paid $3000, but the men did a poor job and didn’t return to correct their work.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service are reminding homeowners to ensure the work actually needs to be done before agreeing to a deal. Do not feel pressured to accept their offer and in most cases if the deal seems too good to be true then it probably is.
Update: The Chatham-Kent police released a second statement to say this is a possible civil matter, after first releasing a statement claiming the couple were victims of a fraud. CKReview News has changed the article to reflect the second police statement.
