Logibec Inc. (Logibec) has announce that its subsidiary, Mediamed Technologies (MMT) has partnered with Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) to improve care management and access to health services. CKHA is the first organization in Ontario to utilize MMT’s Global Performance solution (Med-GPS), and clinical consulting services. The partnership aims to address the specific needs of patients that are unable to secure timely access to comprehensive and complex care and, as a result, are frequent visitors to the Emergency Department and hospital inpatient units.
“Relationships with organizations like MediaMed Technologies are how innovation happens and system changes will be realized. We are taking their success in Quebec and rapidly adjusting it for use in Ontario,” shared Colin Patey, President and CEO of CKHA. “In Chatham-Kent we are fortunate to have a willing group of providers that are keen to use the insight Med-GPS provides to change the way care is delivered to these patients today. Profound change is underway and we are thrilled to be leading this expansion into Ontario,” added Patey.
CKHA and MMT fostered their collaboration as part of a pilot with the Chatham-Kent Health Link. The goal of the Health Link is to identify frequent users in real-time and create a collaborative response to better manage their care. Early results from the pilot, to which the International Centre for Health Innovation at the Ivey Business School, Western University, is the lead research partner, led to the expansion of the software solution and partnership to collaborate in clinical care, building on the success of MMT with similar patient populations in Quebec.
MMT has led similar population health management strategies in more than 30 Canadian organizations and is glad that CKHA is the first to adopt their proven methodology in Ontario. As Dr. Jean Mireault, Chief medical officer of Logibec mentions, “We are glad to be working with CKHA because they are highly innovative and we know that these tools will allow their project goals to be reached faster. Our Global Performance Solution will allow them to identify, track and analyze their patients at all times, giving CKHA an approach that is much more hands-on and results-focused for its population.”
Logibec acquired MediaMed earlier in March 2015 to enhance the company’s expertise in activity-based costing, patient tracking and data analytics solutions. This was the first add-on acquisition by Logibec to expand the product offering across all of Canada since GI Partners invested in Logibec in January 2015.
