The standoff between police and a Dresden area man ended peacefully this morning at about 11 a.m.

Shortly before 11 a.m. this morning, the 69-year-old man surrendered himself to police and was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with one count of uttering threats and has been transported to the courthouse for a bail hearing.

Last night around 8 p.m. members of the Chatham-Kent Police Drugs and Intelligence Unit with the assistance of the Community Patrol Branch and Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) went to the man’s home to arrest him. He was uncooperative and refused to surrender himself. Due to public safety reasons, the OPP Tactical Response Unit (TRU Team) was called to assist.
