Lights, Camera, Action! Chatham-Kent’s very own CKSS has produced 25 musicals under the guidance of Bruce Nelson and Christine Baribeau but this year will mark a very special milestone as CKSS will recapture all 25 shows in one evening.
Bruce Nelson held the reigns for 20 years, directing shows such as Little Abner, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Les Miserables and Footloose. After 20 years Bruce handed the torch to Christine Baribeau which allowed for shows such as Little Shop of Horrors and the broad-way hit Phantom of The Opera.
Christine directed this years musical Seussical The Musical and in the meanwhile planned out a reunion show honoring the alumni group and featuring songs from all 25 CKSS Musicals.
“Chatham-Kent Secondary School has a reputation of producing and performing some of the best quality shows”, said Dale Ripley the producer of many CKSS Musicals. Dale went on to say, “This celebration of all 25 musicals is to honor 25 years of productions, actors, and everyone who made the shows possible”.
Cast members are being selected this week from current CKSS students, while alumni musical members may apply for roles in the show as well by contacting Christine Baribeau at the school.
Devon Hansen has been announced as the choir-leader and will be in charge of the band for the Lot 25 performance.
The Reunion is set to take place May 23rd at 7 p.m. at the Capitol Theatre. Tickets are $20 for general admissions or $30 with the option of attending the post-show reception where a meet an greet as well as refreshments will be provided.
