The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a Chatham man in connection with an ongoing child luring investigation.
In December 2014, the Chatham-Kent Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit commenced an investigation where a local man was attempting to lure a 14-year-old Chatham-Kent girl through internet communications for a sexual purpose.
On March 10, following an investigation, the Chatham-Kent Police Service intercepted the man as he arrived to meet the girl. A search warrant was executed at his residence and a desktop computer and cellular phone were seized for analysis.
Michael Harris, 55, of Queen Street in Chatham has been charged with luring. He has been released with a court date of March 31.
Member of the ICE Unit, constable Gary Oriet said, “Over the past several years, we have found that our community is not immune from this threat to our children. The digital age has allowed for predators to virtually enter our homes and connect with our kids. Parents are encouraged to take the time to monitor the on-line activities of their children. We recommend that parents utilize a Wi-Fi router that has parental controls installed or access the free tool in order to control what your children are accessing while on the internet.”
The law is encouraged to stop allowing these sick F off with a slap on he wrist or parole… The law is encouraged to follow the legislation and jail these pigs and not say “oh you only did it once? Oh okay you’re forgiven just don’t get caught next time” this is what the law and government are saying each time. They are all around because they are given the silent secret to continue
