Woman charged after recanting her story in court

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman for falsely reporting a criminal incident.

In July the woman’s common law partner was put on probation with conditions. He was to refrain from communicating with her or attend her residence. In August the woman reported he broke into her residence and assaulted her. He was arrested and charged.

In October the woman went to court to give testimony against the man, however she retracted her story.

Yesterday, the 29-year-old Chatham Township woman was charged public mischief and being a party to an offence. She was released with conditions and a court date.
