OPP appeals to public after car stolen from Park Avenue

OPP(CHATHAM-KENT, ON)  On November 17, just after 10 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Pontiac car for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Highway 401. The vehicle failed to stop for Police and was located a short time later in the ditch on highway 401 eastbound off ramp, at Orford Road. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle, a 1999 red Pontiac Grand Am, had been stolen from a residence on Park Avenue in Chatham.

Three young men were seen outside the ditched vehicle by passers-by, and left on foot from the scene. It is believed that the three men may have headed toward Chatham.

The Ontario Provincial Police Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team (ERT) attended the scene to aid in the search of these men. They were not located.

The three men are described as young and caucasian. One of them was wearing a white jacket.

Police are asking anyone who may have information, to please contact Chatham-Kent OPP at 519-352-1122 and speak with constable Baxter.
