12-year-old charged with theft

The 12-year-old Chatham youth has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 after a theft investigation by the Chatham-Kent police.

Police were called to a theft complaint on St. Clair Street, in Chatham, in November 10. The homeowner reported that he saw the youth steal property from his motor vehicle. The youth stole vehicle documentation and a pen.

Through investigation the officer identified the youth and he was taken into custody yesterday morning.

He has been released with conditions and a court date.
