Man refused service because of intoxication, drove off: police

s police 7Police say a Chatham man was refused service at the Wellington Street LCBO yesterday for being intoxicated, got in his car and drove off.

The man attempted to buy some vodka at about 2 p.m. Police were notified immediately after he drove away.

An officer on patrol saw him driving northbound on Victoria Avenue near McNaughton Avenue and saw him pull into a driveway. The Chatham-Kent police officer believed the man was inebriated and arrested him. He was taken to CKPS headquarters for further breath tests.

Patrick Jay McFadden, 52, of Victoria Avenue in Chatham has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released with conditions and a court date.
