According to environment Canada there is a severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:
- Chatham-Kent - Rondeau Park
- Windsor - Leamington - Essex County
Warm and humid air is creating favourable conditions for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and torrential rain. Although rainfall of 50 to 75 mm is the greatest threat, localized large hail of 2 centimetres and brief wind gusts of 90 km/h are also possible.
Fast moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Be ready for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Stay away from all windows, skylights and doors.
Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.
