Man faces multiple charges after stealing a van in Chatham: police

Yesterday at about 1 p.m. the Chatham-Kent police were called to a Grand Avenue address about a report of a stolen van.

Employees at a local business observed a male enter a van and drive off. The vehicle was spotted a short while later driving erratically on St. Clair street and was found abandoned on the Wal-Mart parking lot. Police searched the area and located the suspect a short time later.

As a result a 36-year-old Wallaceburg area man was held for a bail hearing charged with several offences including; driving under suspension, theft and possession over $5000 and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
