Wheatley grow up found during domestic incident: police

s police 9The Chatham-Kent police have arrested two men following a disturbance in Wheatley last night.

Shortly after 9 p.m. police responded to a domestic violence incident. A man and woman engaged in a verbal argument when it escalated into a physical altercation. Officers entered the residence to ensure the safety of the woman and upon doing so observed in plain view a marijuana grow operation. Officers seized 20 mature plants, 60 infant plants and a bag of processed buds with a total street value of about of $81,500.

A 32-year-old Wheatley man has been charged with assault and production of a controlled substance. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The man’s roommate, a 50-year-old Wheatley man, has also been arrested and charged with production of a controlled substance. He was released with conditions pending a future court date.

The woman did not need medical attention.
