A break-in at The Source store on St. Clair in the Nortown plaza has led to the arrest of a man in Chatham.
An alarm was set off in the store at about 3 a.m. this morning and when police arrived they saw the front door was smashed. Multiple glass display cases were smashed and various cell phones and tablets were stolen. Police estimate the value of the stolen goods to be about $7000 and the cost of damage to the store at about $2200.
Based on a physical description provided, a suspect was arrested at 5:30 a.m. after police spotted him riding a bike on Park Avenue.
He detained for investigative purposes and had a stolen iPhone from The Source on him. He was also in possession of methamphetamine.
The 44 year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with break and enter, mischief, possession of stolen property and drug possession. He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.
