The OPP have confirmed two people died this afternoon on the 401 just west of Mull Road. The accident happened at about 2:25 p.m. when a transport truck crossed from the westbound into the eastbound lanes, for reasons unknown. The truck collided with a car, killing both occupants. No names have been released.

The male driver of the tractor-trailer was transported to hospital in stable condition.

The westbound lanes re-opened about 6:30 p.m. and the eastbound were open an hour later.

The OPP are continuing their investigation into the accident.
