Search on for man who lept from the Blue Water Bridge

 OPPOn May 22, 2021 just after 10:00 a.m. Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Lambton Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Point Edward Fire Service responded to the Blue Water Bridge after receiving a call that a vehicle driver had abandoned a motor vehicle on the north span of the bridge, and that the driver allegedly jumped from the bridge into the St. Clair River.

Calls for assistance also went out to Canada Coast Guard, the United States Coast Guard (USCG), Sarnia Fire Service, Lambton OPP Marine, and the Sarnia Police Service (SPS).

Firefighters and uniformed officers from Lambton OPP and SPS have been searching from along the shoreline of the St. Clair River while the Lambton OPP Marine vessel searches the water.  A USCG helicopter is also providing search capabilities along the St. Clair River.

The north span of the Blue Water Bridge handles west bound traffic from Canada to the Unites States. West bound traffic had been stopped during a part of the investigation but is now moving.

The search efforts are continuing.
