At 6:22 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers, Grand Bend Fire Department and Huron County EMS responded to a two vehicle collision north of Grand Bend on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway at Schadeview Road.
Preliminary investigation has determined the driver of a northbound Chevrolet pickup truck crossed the center line and collided head on with a southbound Ford Escort sedan.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck has been identified as 32-year-old Robert Vander Gaag from Chatham.
The driver of the Ford Escort has been identified as 50-year-old, male, Lee Kirwan from Wyoming.
A post-mortem examination for both deceased is scheduled for May 4, 2021 at London Health Sciences Centre.
Members from the OPP West Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Team continue to investigate the cause of collision.
