Suspect armed with a knife chases down resident in noon hour drama

s police 9The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man after a daylight chase in Chatham that involved a large knife.

Police were called to Park Avenue West just before noon yesterday about a break and enter in progress. When police arrived the suspect had already left the area. A resident was chased out of an apartment, running from the armed man who ran after him. Once the suspect realized he was locked out of the apartment he started to pound on the door attempting to get back in. Police were then called and the suspect took off.

Police found the suspect at his home in Chatham where he was arrested. While being placed under arrest the suspect then fought with the police resulting in one officer suffering a minor injury to his right hand. The suspect also kicked the rear panel of a police vehicle before being transported to police headquarters.

A 27-year-old Chatham man is charged with break and enter, threatening, assaulting a police officer, mischief, breaching his recognizance and breaching his probation.
