A distraught man in Wallaceburg struck a police officer last night and sits in custody waiting for a bail hearing this morning.
Around 8:10 p.m. a concerned citizen called police to report that a man appeared emotionally distraught on Dufferin Avenue. Police found the man and attempted to talk to him and calm him down. The man became agitated, clenched his fists and jaw before taking a swing at one of the officers. The strike was blocked and he was arrested.
The 24-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with assaulting a police officer. He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.
