TORONTO - An employee went on a stabbing spree Wednesday, injuring four co-workers inside a Toronto office building, before he was “subdued,” police said.

The incident took place around 9:30 a.m., on the fifth floor of an office tower in the city’s north end.

Police said the 45-year-old suspect — who was arrested at the scene — used a “sharp instrument…possibly a knife.”

“I believe the employees eventually subdued him until the police got here,” Det. Daniel Darnbrough told reporters outside the building.

Police said a 32-year-old woman and three men between the ages of 35 and 45 were injured.

The woman and one of the men were in “very serious condition,” said Darnbrough.

The suspect was not injured in the incident. Footage from outside the office building showed a man wearing a striped blue office shirt and dress pants being led into a police cruiser.

Police have not released the suspect’s identity or the name of the business where the stabbing took place.

“There’s a number of offices in an open area that are on that fifth floor where the incident took place,” Darnbrough said, adding that the floor was locked down.

“We still have a lot of forensic evidence to gather here,” he said.

“It’s an ongoing investigation.”
