Today the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors released real-estate sales figures for March, 2014.
89 homes sold in CK during March. That number is down 5% from last year. The average price for homes that sold was up 12% to 158,811.
“Dollar volume improved for the second straight month in March after having hit a weather-related low in January, although activity remains a little below where it was at the same time last year,” said Ron Smith, President of the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors. “Scratching the surface of the headline numbers, it turns out the decline in sales compared to last March was focused entirely below $100,000, while sales in the upper price ranges actually fared quite well. The combination of fewer sales at the more affordable end of the market and more sales at the other end of the spectrum translated into a sizeable gain in the average selling price.”
New listings numbered 206 units in March, up 15% from March last year. There were 586 active residential listings at the end of March 2014, a 9% drop from last year.
