Drug charges after traffic stop

On March 29, just after 1:30 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a RIDE program at Communication Road and Creek Road, when a Mazda automobile entered and stopped for the officers.

Officers spoke with the occupants of the vehicle. Subsequent OPP investigation determined that a passenger in the vehicle had an open container of alcohol, and also resulted in the officers seizing a small amount of suspected marijuana.

The 20-year-old male passenger from Chatham has been charged with possession of marijuana and having liquor open in the vehicle.
