22-year-old Forest man arrested for animal cruelty

OPP 3(FOREST, ON)  Yesterday just before 5:30 p.m. Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers became involved in an animal cruelty investigation.

During the investigation one 22-year-old male from Forest, was taken into custody where he remains at this time. Also, OPP officers executed a search warrant at a residential address on MacKenzie street in Forest and at that time OPP officers came across unknown liquid chemicals within the residence.

The investigation is ongoing with officers from Lambton OPP and officers from the OPP Urban Search and Rescue Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosives Response Team (UCRT) on scene at the residence to deal with the unknown chemicals. Members of UCRT were brought in to safely manage the chemicals.

There is no risk to the public and no evacuations being performed. Paramedics from Lambton Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and firefighters from Forest Fire Service are also on scene as a precaution while OPP officers manage the chemicals.

The investigation is continuing.
