Woman threatens store employee after being confronted about theft

s police 9Yesterday afternoon around 3:40 p.m. the woman entered a store on Queen Street in Chatham. Police say while inside the store, she concealed jewelry, cosmetics and stationary supplies in a bag and hood of her coat. She left the store without paying for the items in her possession. An employee confronted the woman outside and the woman threatened the employee as she fled the area.

Chatham-Kent police had a physical description of the woman and she was located a short time later at Tissiman Street and Allan Street. She was arrested and found to be in possession of the stolen merchandise valued at about $90.

The 23-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with theft, possession stolen property and uttering threats. She has been held for a bail hearing.
