Vandals struck on Van Allen Avenue last night. A residence was a target, Home Hardware and a Bell Canada box were also vandalized.
Police attended the scene at 12:15 on Thursday, and reported blue and orange spray paint on a home and fence. They also discovered a second property that had been spray painted.
On Friday morning Beth Krug, who owns the Home Hardware store with her husband, learned the outside of her store was also vandalized with black spray paint when the CKReview showed her the damage. Her husband Mark told the CKReview that a couple of months ago his store was vandalized when two tarps were also spray painted. Krug reported that incident to the Chatham police and provided photos that captured the suspects from behind. “You couldn’t see much of them, it was a bit grainy”, said Krug. “There were two guys and they had their hoods up.”
Police say the vandalism happened between 11 p.m. and 9 a.m.
Damage is estimated at $3000.
