Suspect offered ride to schoolgirl in Blenheim: police

s police 7The Chatham-Kent police are actively investigating the report of a suspicious man in Blenheim.

On Monday, February 24, around 8:40 a.m. a man driving a white truck stopped and asked a young girl walking on Talbot Street West if she wanted a ride to school. The girl replied, ‘No’ and the man drove away. The girl was not harmed.

The man is described as being white, older in age with white hair, balding on top, and a white beard. He was wearing a white t-shirt at the time of the incident.

Police would like to speak with him. Anyone with information that may assist in either identifying the truck or the man is urged to contact constable Jayme O’Reilly at 519-436-6600 extension #87006.  Anonymous callers may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service are reminding parents to speak to their children about personal safety and the dangers of talking to people unknown to them.
