s police 8The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a youth for failing to comply with his probation order.

Around 12:20 a.m. this morning, police responded to the area of Victoria Avenue in Chatham about a suspicious male trying to get into peoples’ vehicles. A description of him was provided to police, who located and apprehended him following a short foot pursuit on Elizabeth Street. Police learned that he was bound by a probation order and that he was failing to comply with a curfew and alcohol related conditions.

The 16-year-old Chatham youth was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply. He was released pending a future court date.

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.

On January 30, he was released from custody for failing to comply with his probation order. One of his conditions stated that he was required to attend court on February 7. He failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Yesterday afternoon, police found him on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg and he was arrested. William Lalonde, 44 years, of Gillard Street in Wallaceburg was released pending a future court.

The Chatham-Kent police are looking for information on a break and enter in Chatham yesterday.

Between 8:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. someone entered an unlocked door of a residence on Tweedsmuir Avenue West. Once inside they stole money and jewelry.

Just before 1:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision at Richmond Street and Keil Drive in Chatham.

A 73-year-old Raleigh Township man was travelling eastbound on Richmond Street. As he entered the intersection, he was struck by a vehicle being driven by a 51-year-old Chatham man travelling southbound on Keil Drive who had the right of way. Neither driver was injured. Total damage was estimated at $4000.

The Raleigh Township man was charged with disobeying a lane light.
