Pair arrested after stealing meat from grocery store: police

s police 3A meat theft from a south-side Chatham grocery store at about 11 p.m. has led to the arrest of two people, according to the Chatham-Kent police.

A man and a woman were duty prevention loss officer taking the meat and hiding it on themselves. The pair paid for two items but made no attempt to pay for the items they had concealed.

A 31-year-old man and a 22-year-old Chatham woman, both from Chatham, were arrested and charged with theft under $5000 and possession of stolen property.

The man is in police custody and has a bail hearing this morning and the female was released with a promise to appear in court.
