Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were kept very busy throughout the day yesterday. Between 6:30 a.m., to just after 7:30 p.m., Chatham-Kent OPP officers responded to at least 21 motor vehicle collisions and vehicles stuck in the snow along highway 401 and highway 40. Most of the incidents involved single vehicle collisions. Minor injuries were reported.
The OPP are asking the public to be cautious as emergency crews are working at removing vehicles from the ditch along the highway, today and tomorrow. Partial lane closures will be in effect periodically to aid with the removal of the vehicles and to ensure safety.
The OPP are advising drivers to slow down and leave extra space between you and other vehicles.
